ALLIANCE ONCOLOGY NURSING COMMITTEE (A-OCN)
TUMOR LIAISONS: GU AND NEURO-ONCOLOGY
The Alliance for Clinical Trials in Oncology - Oncology Nursing Committee is pleased to invite applications for tumor liaisons in GU and Neuro-Oncology. The deadline for applications is August 10, 2020.
Responsibilities for the A-ONC Tumor Liaison include but is not limited to:
- Mandatory attendance at all core and main meetings (two meetings/year) - participation in monthly A-ONC teleconferences
- Review of all new protocols/forms/amendments for the specific tumor oncology program, act as a resource for other Alliance nurses regarding protocol execution within related protocols (available via phone and/or e-mail).
- Collaboration across committees on projects, publications, educational initiatives, research, etc.
- Provision of nursing perspective and expertise regarding study design and methods; as well as patient education.
- Serving as a Principal and/or Co-Investigator on Alliance trials as appropriate.
- Publication/dissemination of Alliance-related research findings.
- Active participation at tumor-specific meetings for protocol development. Assist in the education of other nurses and CRPs and others of the multidisciplinary team.
Minimum Requirements
- Registered Nurse
- Employment at an Alliance institution
- Demonstrated commitment to the Alliance - letter of interest
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working with research protocols within the cooperative group setting.
- Minimum of one (1) year clinical oncology nursing experience.
- Main employer will allow time to fulfill position requirements as well as financial support (documented via letter or e-mail)
- Anticipated time commitment (2-4 hours/month)
- Two-four days away with each Alliance meeting (two meetings/year)
- Prefer experience with a tumor-specific site
How to Apply
Those interested in A-ONC membership should submit a CV/resume and a one-page letter of interest by August 10, 2020. Decisions regarding A-ONC membership will be made by August 17, 2020. Specifically, your letter should address the following points:
- Please specify which tumor-specific position you are applying for.
- Please provide a letter of financial support from your PI or supervisor, or indicate other sources.
- Your area of expertise (clinical, education, administrative, research). Please be specific. For example, if you possess clinical expertise, describe your specific disease or modality-focus (breast cancer, prevention, symptom control, etc.);
- Explain what contributions you will make to the committee, and
- Provide evidence that your current supervisor will support your participation (An e-mail communication from your supervisor, addressed to Lisa Kottschade, is satisfactory).
